Infant Massage Training
The brief time we have with our infants is so precious! Being able to read the behavioral cues that your infant gives from the moment of birth is an enjoyable way to deepen the loving communication between the two of you and satisfy the needs of your baby. In addition, learning how to massage will provide the opportunity for both you and your baby to develop relaxation and preventative health care skills that will last a lifetime.

Massaging an infant is much more than rubbing and caressing your baby. StressBusters Body Therapy Center’s purpose in this class is to be your guide in learning the nurturing & bonding expression that is the art of Infant Massage. Massage during infancy often eliminates colic, assists digestion, increases the development of motor skills and right/left brain development, eliminates gas and stomach discomforts, as well as deepens your infant’s sleep; perhaps even facilitates sleeping through the night! Recent studies have shown that babies massaged early in life are better-adjusted, confident and productive adults. They have learned to self-console and to be able to relax; imperative skills for adulthood. Learning to massage can be accomplished in ways that nurture both the baby AND the parent. You will learn ways to relax yourself as well as to effectively and safely massage your baby. We teach information from the University of Washington, which enables you to understand what your infant is saying or requesting with their various movements?

We teach information from the University of Washington which will enable you to understand what your infant is saying or requesting with their various movements. Infants are actually giving us cues as to their needs constantly. Learning to understand those cues takes education and practice. Every parent that has taken our class report that the observation skills they learned from the “Cues Training” video segment of the class enabled them to understand the language and needs of their baby after the first class. These observation skills enabled them to parent their baby much more confidently and effectively. We spend quite a bit of time teaching you in various ways what your baby is saying with his/her different movements/sounds. Is he/she willing to be massaged or not? Does he/she want a time out, a change of position or a hug? When do you massage? When don’t you massage? What can you do to massage a colicky baby? A baby with occasional gas or one who scarcely sleeps? Is crying something that we should always try to stop? Learn the answers to these and MANY more questions.
